Performative Walk

Following The Walk's screening at CPH:DOX Documentary Film Festival, a performative walk designed by Maryam Hashempour and Sall Lam Toro took place in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro neighbourhood. The Walk documents the journey of Little Amal, a 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child, created by the Handspring Puppet Company, as she is walked through cities across the world.

Resonating with the documentary’s themes, this urban exploration invited participants to reflect on politics of citizenship, territories of belonging, and the reimagining of global borders through a series of simple scores.
