Final Attachment
In Final Attachment, the performers invite the audience to join them in a process of very close examination of a life—or stalking. Having recently spent countless hours helping the Swedish Migration Agency conduct a "very close examination" of their own lives, they now invite the audience to break into their case officer’s apartment.
From purchase receipts, family photographs, travel tickets, and hotel vouchers to love stories, sexual fantasies, locations, and every other piece of information requested by the Migration Agency, all the way to their nightmares, dreams, and hopes for the future, everything is shared with the audience.
Final Attachment emerged from a digital collaboration among Iranian artists across Sweden, Iran, Canada, and Germany. As a participatory experience, it invites the audience on a journey through a personal history, where the act of seeing and being seen in a black box becomes a lens through which to explore state violence and displacement.
Following a residency at Teater Konträr, the project was produced by Malmö Theatre Academy and Teater Konträr as Maryam Hashempour’s MA graduation piece, and was presented in their venues in Malmö and Stockholm.
