Selected Projects (2017-2024)
Biography
Maryam Hashempour (1998) is an Iranian theater maker and writer based in Malmö. Her artistic career has largely been shaped by her practice in Iran's independent and experimental art scenes, where her focus on the politics of citizenship and the performativity of everyday life during times of uprising and resistance has led to the creation of her site-specific projects. She holds a degree in Dramatic Literature from Tehran University, which fueled her curiosity about text in contemporary performance, post-dramatic theater, and collaborative writing, both in theory and practice. Since 2023, Maryam has been residing in Sweden, pursuing a master's degree in Performing Art as Critical Practice. As an integral part of her professional journey, she is currently grappling with themes of migration, exile, and discrimination. She is fascinated by cities, narratives, and "the Other," striving to use her artistic tools to explore them through interactive and interdisciplinary forms.
